Important information and reminders

Homework will be given out on Fridays and is expected back on Wednesday.

Reading books will be changed weekly and children are expected to read to a grown up as often as possible. We welcome parents and carers to leave comments in the reading record book.

P.E. kits should be brought in on Mondays and left in school until Friday. P.E. is timetabled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Children require appropriate footwear and warm clothes for outdoor P.E.

All uniform should be labelled with the child's name and class as it is very difficult to trace misplaced uniform. Similarly, we discourage children from bringing in their mobile phones to school; any mobile phones brought in must be labelled with the child's name and handed in to the class teacher each day, at the owner's risk.

The children can bring in a healthy snack to eat at morning playtime.

History

This term our history topic is ‘Ancient Egypt’. We will be learning about where this ancient civilization belongs on a timeline and at what period of time the Egyptian empire started and finished. We will be looking at the politics of Upper and Lower Egypt and how they came to be one kingdom. Also, we will learn about the great archaeologist Howard Carter and his amazing discovery in The Valley of the Kings.

Geography

In Geography, we will be learning about volcanoes. We will be studying where in the world active volcanoes are today and where eruptions have occurred in the past. We will learn about how volcanoes are formed and why they erupt.

In Maths we have been learning about 3D shapes. We now know their names and properties, including how many edges, faces and vertices they have.

At the London Buddhist Centre in Bethnal Green, we learned how to meditate. We were shown how mindfulness can help us remain focused on our learning.
