Welcome to the Nursery class page

 St Nicholas class

Class teacher: Miss Nadia

Nursery nurse: Miss Daria

Our IPC topic this half term is 'Clothes'

Independence and Interdependence

Through dressing up and talking about all kinds of clothes the children will learn about people who are different from themselves and about the links between school and the wider world. They will have opportunities to play alone, alongside and with other children.

Throughout this theme the children will have lots of opportunities to talk about clothes and ask questions of visitors. They will listen to the story of ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’. We will count, order and sort clothes.

We will spend lots of time involved in dressing up and pretend play and through these activities find out about the world about us.

 Healthy Living

The children will learn about the need to take care of themselves, to concentrate and to pay attention.

We used costume and props to act out the story of Little Red Riding Hood.

The Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. We will learn by playing, exploring, being active and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.

 Class fund

We would appreciate a voluntary contribution of £5 per a term. This funds our ingredients for playdough and cooking activities.

If you have any questions, please come and see us in the Nursery!

Many thanks

The Nursery Team

We have been reading 'Pepetuna' by Denise Whitmore.

We made a tree for Pepetuna to live in at Nursery. We hope Pepetuna will visit us soon!

We talked about patterns and symmetry as we created our own Pepetuna to hang on the tree.

Drawing a house for Pepetuna.

When Pepetuna is in the tree he sleeps, eats, wriggles and hides.

We made different sized caterpillars out of playdough and used cubes to measure their length.

There has been a growing interest in building in St Nicholas class this half term. The big blocks have been a favourite along with the click bricks and the magnet blocks. Children have been using their imagination to turn the blocks into wonderful and exciting things like firetrucks, cars, planes and towers.

Balance and coordination.

In RE we have learning about our Easter.

We explored the cross on hot cross buns and talked about why they are special during Easter. We also got to taste them - yum!

We lit the story candle and talked about Jesus dying on the cross and rising again. We talked about how it made Christians feel and showed happy, angry and sad using our faces.
