Homework will be given out every Friday. Please ensure that your child hands their homework book in on a Wednesday so that it can be marked promptly. If your child does not do their homework, they will be asked to attend homework club during Thursday lunchtime.

P.E. kits should be brought in on Mondays and taken home to be washed on Fridays. (Blue/black shorts or tracksuit bottoms, white P.E. top and trainers/plimsoles)
St. Augustine's class assembly will be on the 19th September 2018.
St. Monica's class assembly will be 17th October 2018.
Our book this half term will be 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty.
We will read this book every day giving the children the opportunity to improve their fluency and intonation when reading out loud. As a class and independently, the children will work on retrieval skills, explaining and discussing their understanding of the text, drawing inferences and justifying these with evidence and evaluating how authors use language.
This half term our IPC topic is 'Living in Space'.
The children will learn about the International Space Station, conditions in space and the life of an astronaut.
We will design and create our own rockets looking at which design would be most suited to travelling to space.
General misconceptions about life in space will also be addressed giving children the opportunity to bring up their own questions and lines of enquiry.
Our Science topic this half term is 'The Earth, Sun and Moon'.
Within this topic we will learn how to:
* describe the movement of the Earth, and other planets, relative to the sun in the solar system
* describe the movement of the Moon relative to the Earth
* describe the Sun, Earth and Moon as approximately spherical bodies
* Use the idea of the Earth's rotation to explain day and night and the apparent movement of the sun across the sky
