Welcome to the Year Two class page.
Our topic this half term is 'All Dressed Up'. This is supported by our science topic, 'Grouping and Changing Materials'.
Homework this week is to complete the activities in your homework book.
You have also been asked to revise your Year Two spellings. If you have not learnt any of your lists, now is your chance to catch up: Look, cover, write, check. Teachers will be asking to see your spelling books.
Homework is due in on Wednesdays. If there are any problems with understanding the homework please see the class teacher or teaching assistant, Mrs McShane, on Mondays.
Please remember to bring your reading bags into school every day. You also need to bring your spelling book every Monday, to write your new spelling words down.
And don't forget your spelling test on Fridays. You need to learn your words: Look, Cover, Write, Check!
For Numeracy, please make sure you are absolutely secure with your number bonds to 10 and then to 20. You should know, for example, 9+1=10 and 19+1=20, 8+2=10 and 18+2=20, 7+3=10 and 17+3=20 and so on. Use your number bonds to 10 to figure out bonds to 100, for example, 80 + 20 = 100.
Please continue to practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Parents and carers can help the children to understand money and practise counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, by giving them the opportunity to count up your loose change!
We are still concentrating on partitioning 2 - digit numbers into their tens and units in order to make it easier to work with them in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Parents please do come and talk to the teacher if you need tips on helping your child.
Have you seen the Kids' Zone? Play games, and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites! And don't forget Purple Mash - lots of fun activities to keep you busy! There will be Christmas activities on the site now, so don't miss out!
