Welcome to year 6.
This year is a very important year for children as they come to the end of their time at primary school. We have two main focuses in year six:
- to prepare each child for secondary school as best we can
- to get the children ready for their SATs tests in May.
Year 6 is hard but we try to make it as interesting as possible.
You can help us by . We cannot stress how important this is. The ability to read fluently and quickly is probably the most important skill your child needs.

Homework will be given out on and is usually due back in the following . Whenever possible, the homework will be posted on the class page.
Weekly swimming lessons will begin on and be every thereafter. Please make sure your child has a swimming kit at school on Thursdays.
PE will be on . Again, please make sure your child has a PE kit in school on these days.

The literacy homework this week is about redrafting a piece of writing to improve it.

The maths homework is arithmetic practice. if this gets lost, you must see your teacher BEFORE Wednesday to get another copy.
Additionally, too many children in year 6 do not know their times tables. This is making it harder for them to access a lot of the curriculum effectively. Your child has been given a times table square to practice. There will be regular testing after half-term.
